"Touch of Liberty vs Liberty of Touch- 2010"
After years of diligently studying drawing techniques, I decided to break away from convention and experiment with my own methods. I crafted my own graphite by burning almonds and used only my fingers to explore the blank page, creating a unique work that was unencumbered by the traditional rules of form and technique.
The resulting piece, entitled "Touch of Liberty vs Liberty of Touch," reflects my desire to explore the tension between the freedom to create without constraints and the discipline of technique. It represents a significant step in my artistic journey and has opened new doors for my creativity.
Drawing inspiration from the ancient techniques used in Persia and Egypt, I discovered a unique method of using almond soot as a controlled medium to create a distinct texture on paper. By punching the paper with my fingers and thumbs, I was able to add layer by layer to build the final result, giving my work a sense of depth and complexity.
While this technique proved challenging when it came to finding finer details, the freedom it provided allowed me to capture a sense of liberation that is evident in the final drawing.
